A New Beginning for This Bathroom Thanks to Our Tile Sealing Service in Manhattan, NY
April 04, 2018
New York is known as the city that never sleeps, and for a young man from upper Manhattan this statement was about as literal as it gets. He worked all day and spent several hours cleaning at least twice a week. This was due mostly to his troublesome bathroom, but fortunately, he finally found a solution thanks to our Manhattan Tile Sealing service. In a place like the Big Apple, life goes by so fast. There's always something to do or some place to be, but so little time, and this man was busy enough to be spending hours of his valuable time cleaning his bathroom. When others would've given up on this bathroom, he just couldn't. It was the only bathroom in his apartment, so quitting was simply not an option. He liked everything neat and there was no way he could shower in a dirty bathroom.
After a couple of months in this debacle, he just couldn't keep this up. At this point no matter how hard he scrubbed his bathroom wouldn't look clean anymore. Thankfully, just when he felt that his tiredness would make him throw in the towel, a close friend gave him a solution. He suggested looking for a tile sealing service in the area; it helped him solve a similar problem when he lived upstate with his parents.
The young man did a quick Google search and found our website. There, he read all the benefits that our tile sealing had to offer. That's when he decided to contact us for a free appointment and booked the nearest date for an in-home evaluation.
The In-home Evaluation
Our technicians arrived as scheduled, and quickly headed up to assess the young man's bathroom. They walked into the tiny bathroom and spotted the problems. The floor looked dull, mostly due to dirt that had accumulated within the grout lines. The shower looked even worse, as it not only had the same problem in its grout, but there was even evidence of mildew. The tiles were stained by soap scum and mineral deposits in all four corners of the small shower.
Our experts recommended a deep clean to get rid of the dirt, grime and scum, followed by re-grouting with epoxy grout, and finishing the process with a tile and grout sealing. This would not only leave both the shower and the bathroom floor squeaky clean, but the sealing process would protect all surfaces, making them much easier to clean in the future. Happy with our crew's assessment and eager to get the job done to finally get a break from constantly cleaning his bathroom, the young man scheduled a date for the restoration to take place.
The Restoration Process
After quickly protecting the bathroom, our team began the cleaning process. They started off by using Sir Grout's tile and grout cleaner and a high-speed scrubber on the bathroom floor and shower tiles to remove all the grime and stains. Then, a vapor steam cleaner was used to remove any mildew or mold that might be forming between the shower tiles, as any dirt residue that could remain. Later on, all the grout was removed and replaced with epoxy grout. Being a plastic-based material, epoxy grout is less likely to grow mildew or mold, as it doesn't accumulate moisture like other more porous latex- and silicone-based grout.
Later, the new grout was ColorSealed to give it a consistent color throughout all the bathroom's surfaces. Finally, Sir Grout Tile Armor sealant was lightly buffed onto the entire shower and bathroom floor.
The Outcome
Once the multistage process came to an end, the young man's bathroom looked practically brand-new. Our experts explained how they thoroughly cleaned the bathroom floors and shower, and the multi-sealing process would not only protect the surfaces but would also make them a lot easier to clean. Just before heading out, our crew carefully went over a couple of care and maintenance instructions, so the young man could keep his bathroom clean for as long as possible.
- It is best to use pH neutral, soap-less cleaners on your tile surfaces, as soap-based cleaners tend to leave a sticky residue on the tiles and grout lines that attract dirt while acid, alkaline or petroleum-based cleaners can break the grout down.
- Always use a clean mop. Using a dirty mop or rising it into your cleaning solution can produce soap scum and grime build-up.
- Avoid excessive scrubbing or friction while cleaning the grout, as it can seriously damage it. Plus, ColorSeal makes it unnecessary as the surface is much easier to clean.
