This homeowner from the SoHo neighborhood in Manhattan wanted to spruce up her bathroom floor and give it a new look. She had purchased the apartment a couple of years before, and after looking at some old photos of the property, she realized how different the bathroom's appearance was. She proceeded to do what most of us would do nowadays, and searched online for a grout cleaning service in Manhattan. That's how she found Sir Grout Manhattan's website; she browsed the website to check some of the work we had done and then decided to give us a call to set up an appointment for a free evaluation and quote.

On the day of the appointment, we assessed the situation and recommended a grout and tile cleaning together with a ColorSealing service to improve the look of the bathroom floor. The tiles looked dirty and dull, but the grout lines were in worse shape. Bathrooms are particularly susceptible to dirt, mold, mildew, and soap scum buildup, but improper cleaning methods and products can make a bad situation even worse. To help this SoHo resident give her bathroom floor a refreshed look, we started by cleaning the surface with our special tile and grout cleaner and high-speed scrubber, which easily removed all the grime that had accumulated over the years.

In this particular case, the floor's grout lines were very dirty but still in good shape, so no repairs were necessary. We proceeded to apply ColorSeal, a proprietary product we use to recolor grout and make it stain-, water-, mold-, and mildew-resistant, giving grout a uniform color throughout the entire surface. ColorSeal can be used on tile walls, floors, as well as backsplashes. After we carefully applied ColorSeal to the grout lines, we buffed on Tile Armor , another one of our proprietary products, which helps further protect tile and grout. Both of these products are safe for families and pets. Grout and tile cleaning and sealing is a long-lasting, cost-effective solution that leaves surfaces looking like new and protects them against stains and other damaging agents.

Once the job was finished, we showed the client her recently restored bathroom floor. She told us she was very happy to see that her floor now looked renewed and thanked us for a job well done. We took the opportunity to offer her some recommendations for proper floor maintenance, and she was surprised to hear that vinegar should never be used on grout due to its acidic nature, as this is one of the most common solutions she found on the Internet for grout cleaning. We explained that she should always use pH-neutral, soapless cleaners and never let the tiles air-dry after cleaning, as this can cause dirty residue to settle into the grout lines. We also recommended that she keep the bathroom well ventilated, as stagnant water can promote mildew and other fungi. Finally, we warned her not to use steel wool or any other abrasive tools to clean the tile, as these can scratch and dull the surface.
